Terms of use
A universe to explore. A community to care for.
These terms govern your use of Constella. They are written to protect the open, curious experience the app is meant to be.
Effective August 13, 2026 · Quiet Eye Advisors LLC
1. Accepting these terms
By downloading, accessing or using Constella, you agree to these Terms of Use and our Privacy Policy. If you create an account or use community features, you also agree to the Community Standards. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
You must be at least 13 years old to create or use a Constella account. If local law requires a higher age to consent to online services, you must meet that age or have valid parental/guardian authorization.
2. The service
Constella is an interactive astronomy experience based on real astronomical catalogs, orbital models and public scientific data. The full current product is free: there is no subscription, “pro” tier, paid unlock, or in-app purchase.
The core sky can be explored without an account. An optional account enables cross-user features such as profiles, friends, notes, star names, Sky Postcards, Sky Passport stamps, badges and Luminary standings.
Catalogs, orbital elements, forecasts and computed positions can contain errors, delays or uncertainty. Constella is for education, exploration and enjoyment—not navigation, emergency response, aviation, maritime use, professional surveying, or any activity where an error could cause harm.
Optional AI astronomy guide
A signed-in user may be offered an AI-generated answer about a selected space object when the service is available. The guide is not the object speaking and does not represent consciousness, memory or a live communication from space. It is constrained to the facts, story and sources supplied with that object card, but it can still be incomplete or wrong. Check the cited source before relying on an answer and use the in-app report control for an inaccurate, unsafe or offensive answer.
Do not submit personal, confidential, unlawful or abusive material, attempt to bypass safety or rate limits, or treat an AI answer as professional, safety-critical or observational advice. Before any question is sent, you must explicitly allow the OpenAI processing described in the Privacy Policy; you may decline or later revoke that device/browser choice in Settings. Availability and usage limits may change, and the rest of the object story remains available without this feature.
3. Your account
You are responsible for activity under your account and for protecting access to your Apple or Google Account and device. Provide accurate information where requested and tell us promptly about suspected unauthorized use.
You may delete your account inside the app at any time or use our online deletion request if the app is unavailable. Deletion is permanent and is described in the Privacy Policy and account-deletion screen.
4. Your content
You keep ownership of content you create. You grant Quiet Eye a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, reproduce, format and display that content only as needed to operate, secure, moderate and improve Constella according to the audience you select. This license ends when the content and reasonably necessary backups are deleted, except where retention is needed for safety, legal compliance or dispute resolution.
You represent that you have the rights needed to post your content and that it does not violate law, privacy, intellectual property, these terms or the Community Standards. Do not post another person’s private information without permission.
5. Community safety
Constella filters plainly objectionable text before publication and provides reporting and blocking controls. We may review, restrict, hide or remove content; limit features; suspend or terminate accounts; and preserve or disclose information where reasonably necessary to enforce these terms, protect people, respond to reports or comply with law.
Do not harass, threaten, exploit, impersonate or deceive others; post sexual exploitation material or unlawful content; expose personal information; spam; manipulate standings; evade blocks; or interfere with the service. The full rules and appeal contact are in the Community Standards.
6. Official Luminary rules
Luminary is a free, ongoing, display-only community ranking sponsored and administered by Quiet Eye Advisors LLC. There is no purchase, payment, random drawing, cash, physical prize or other item of value. A Luminary title is only an in-app recognition and has no monetary value.
- Only visits that you deliberately stamp as Public in My Sky count. Friends and Only Me stamps do not count.
- Each astronomical object has its own rolling 30-day ranking. Visits to different objects do not combine.
- One qualifying visit can count per local calendar day. An open title requires qualifying visits on at least two distinct days.
- The eligible explorer with the most qualifying days holds the title. An existing Luminary keeps the title through a tied score; a challenger must exceed that score.
- Removing a qualifying stamp, changing eligible data, expiration of the rolling window, moderation or disqualification for manipulation can change the standings.
Quiet Eye may correct errors, disqualify automated or manipulated activity, suspend the feature, or amend these rules prospectively. Apple and Google are not sponsors of, responsible for, or involved in Luminary.
7. Safe and lawful use
- Do not use Constella while driving or when device use would be unsafe.
- Never look at the Sun through binoculars or a telescope without certified solar equipment and expert procedures.
- Respect property boundaries, park rules, curfews, local law and the safety of people around you.
- Do not reverse engineer protected service components, bypass rate limits/access controls, introduce malware, scrape personal information, or use the service to violate another person’s rights.
8. Our materials, third-party data and generated answers
Constella’s branding, interface and original content are owned by Quiet Eye or its licensors. Astronomical catalogs, scientific software and imagery retain their respective copyrights, public-domain status and open licenses. See Data & image credits. These terms do not override any applicable open-source or data license. AI-generated answers are transient explanatory output, can contain errors, and do not replace the underlying credited sources.
9. Availability and changes
We may update, improve, limit or discontinue features and may change these terms prospectively. Networked features, including the optional AI guide, can be interrupted by maintenance, providers, device conditions or events outside our control. We do not promise that every object, forecast, image, generated answer or community item will always be available.
10. Disclaimers and liability
To the extent permitted by law, Constella is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of uninterrupted operation, accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement. Nothing here limits a right or warranty that cannot legally be excluded.
To the extent permitted by law, Quiet Eye and its personnel will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or loss of data, goodwill or profits, arising from the service. Our aggregate liability for claims relating to the free service will not exceed US $100. These limitations do not apply where prohibited or to liability that cannot be limited.
11. Governing law and contact
These terms are governed by New York law, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except that mandatory consumer protections in your home jurisdiction still apply. Courts located in New York County, New York will have non-exclusive jurisdiction where legally permitted.
